NZIA 2012 Canterbury Architecture Awards
Winner - Housing
Perched on Christchurch’s coastal edge, this award-winning home is clad in raw Cor-Ten steel, chosen for its weathering patina and durability in the seaside environment. Expansive glazing frames dramatic views while the warm interior palette tempers the home’s bold exterior. Clever detailing lifts the form above its landscape, with glazed elements enhancing lightness. Winner of the NZIA Canterbury Architecture Award 2012, the project demonstrates how material honesty and careful planning can elevate a suburban site into a striking architectural landmark.
