Mainland Capital’s new workplace reactivates the heart of Christchurch with a sophisticated fitout that balances superb functionality with elegance and warmth. Working with Kirkcaldie, AW Architects transformed two top-floor wings into a boutique hotel–inspired office, layered with leather, wood, brass, stone, and deep textured finishes. The South Wing houses the main workplace, while a former apartment became flexible client spaces including a boardroom, “Game Room” and “Reflection Room.” Adaptive reuse reduced building work while delivering a timeless, high-quality environment. Winner of a Best Awards Bronze Medal 2023 (Spatial), the project demonstrates how design excellence and workplace culture can contribute to urban regeneration.
