A building slated for demolition became AW Architects’ shared studio with Deflux Design. Layers of office fit-outs were stripped away to reveal rimu sarking, plaster walls and timber beams. Black strand board creates a tessellated backdrop while bold colour introduces vibrancy. Judges described it as “an unexpected cross between bohemian art studio and a successful hovel of creativity.” Winner of the Interior Awards (Workplace, up to 1000m²) and Best Awards (Silver Colour Spatial, Bronze Office & Workplace), the studio showcases ingenuity, collaboration, and adaptive reuse
